Before you start

Prerequisites

This course targets teaching and administrative staff of Maghreb Universities.

About This Course

The aim of this course is to provide faculty and administrative staff of Maghreb Universities with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to support entrepreneurship building in their institutions, in accordance with the Yabda Institutional Strategies.

The training objectives of the course are:

  1. to familiarize academic and administrative staff to entrepreneurship principles, teaching and support, thus build their capacity as entrepreneurship trainers;
  2. to allow entrepreneurship trainers to support and present entrepreneurial and innovation-focused ideas, solutions and recommendations to their local settings;
  3. to create a sustainable network of entrepreneurship trainers that willsupport the intra-university Yabda network,
  4. to explore possibilities for widening the Yabda extra-university network with society and the market.

What you will learn

By the end of the training pariticipants will be able to:

  1. include entrepreneurial principles in your teaching (for academic staff),
  2. guide aspiring entrepreneurs (faculty members and/or students) on their first steps and explain them the Yabda strategy and tools,
  3. to develop networking techniques for liaising with the intra-university(faculty, administrative and technical staff and students) and extra-university actors (local, regional and international business environmentand state services);
  4. to find or raise grants and funding resources;
  5. to mainstream Yabda principles and structures in your Universities’administrative procedures.

Module 1: The Basics of Entrepreneurship

This Module provides knowledge on the elements and the types of entrepreneurship, the dimensions of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well as an understanding of the entrepreneurial process.

Module 2: Strategies of Networking

The aim of this Module is to understand the importance of establishing a networking strategy, putting in place the right actions and discovering good networking practices.

Module 3: Strategies of Financing in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia

The purpose of this Module is to provide an overview of the national ecosystems of innovation and entrepreneurship, offer an understanding of the national innovation strategies in Maghreb and present the national funding mechanisms of innovative startups in the region.

Module 4: EU Funding

This Module aims to provide trainees with an understanding on EU funding instruments, as well as of their benefits for small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups. It offers an overview of EU funding opportunities, with a special emphasis on the Maghreb countries, and step-by-step practical information on how to develop a competitive proposal.

Module 5: Family Business Management

Going one step further and considering that Family Businesses are the backbone of the Maghreb economy, this Module is focused on Family Business Management. The Module provides knowledge on the role of family businesses in national economies, the generation transfer processes, as well as the impact of governance mechanisms and strategic planning.

Module 6: Techniques for developing an entrepreneurial mindset within university

The last Module aims at enhancing the capacity of trainees to raise awareness about entrepreneurship, to teach entrepreneurship, and to help start-ups enter the market, thus promoting the transformation of their institutions into “entrepreneurial universities”.

Mohamed ABID

Professor

ENIS, University of Sfax

Mohamed Abid received the Ph.D. degree from the National Institute of Applied Sciences, Toulouse, France, in 1989, and the “thèse d’état” degree from the National School of Engineering of Tunis, Tunisia, in 2000, in the area of Computer Engineering and Microelectronics.,He is currently the Head of Computer Embedded System Laboratory CES-ENIS, Tunisia. He is also a Professor with the Engineering National School of Sfax (ENIS), University of Sfax, Tunisia. His current research interests include: hardware–software co-design, system on chip, reconfigurable system, embedded systems, and biometric. He has also been investigating the design and implementation issues of FPGA embedded systems. Actually Dr. Abid occupies the post of Director of Doctoral School “Sciences and Technologies”, University of Sfax. He has been a Founding Member and the Head of the Research Laboratory $\ll $ Computer Embedded System $\gg $ CES-ENIS, since 2006 (http://www.ceslab.org). He was a Founding Member of “System on Chip with the Computer, Electronic and Smart Engineering System” Laboratory, ENIS, from 2001 to 2005. He was a Founding Member and responsible of doctoral degree $\ll $ computer system engineering $\gg $ at ENIS, from 2003 to 2010. He served in national or international conference organization and program committees at different organizational levels.

Yassine AYDI

Associate professor

ISAMS, University of Sfax

Computer Science Associate professor , I received my PhD degree in computer science engineering, M.S. degrees from the National Engineering School of Sfax, Tunisia in 2007 and 2011, respectively. Also, I received the Engineer degree from the National Engineering School of Monastir, Tunisia in 1994. My research interests include Co-design, Networks-on-Chip design, and formal verification of parallel computing, Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design . I am currently an associate professor at the Higher Institute of Arts and Crafts ( University of Sfax). I teached interconnection networks, embedded system, e-government, and computers architecture, and open data. Since 2017, I teaching Human-Computer Interaction, interaction design, and Building interactive systems using immersive environments. I supervised sevrals master thesis (8 students), engineering degree projects (3 students), and I co-supervise PHDs thesis (3 students) . I participated as a Speaker in national and international seminars, conferences and workshops. and i have several publications in national and international journals. Furthermore, I piloted many national and international project (ENPI, Eramus, PAQ).

Rafik Kossentini

Born 1966 Assistant Master in Arts & Design Doctor of Art and Design Teaches & supervises at ISAMS since 1999 in License and Masters in photography and Audiovisual Vice director, director of studies and internships of ISAMS (2015-2017) Director of Visual Arts at ISAMS 2008-2011 Exhibits works of Classical Arts since 1990 Participates with digital works in National and international exhibitions and fairs since 2003 Several participations in communications and publications in national and international conferences.

Mohamed Kharrat

Associate professor

CES, University of Sfax

Mohamed Kharrat holds a Master and PhD degree in Interdisciplinary Information Studies, from the GSIIS, Department of Applied Computer Science University of Tokyo and Engineering Degree in Telecommunication from The Higher School of Communication in Tunis Sup’Com. He has five years experience as Assistant Professor in Computer Science at ISIGK, and two years experience as Head of Distant Education Department, University of Kairouan. His field of expertise is IoT, Wearable Computing. He has experience co-supervision four PhD students (one already graduated) and supervision of seven master thesis. He is co-author of 17 international peer reviewed conferences and journals. He has experience co-founding multiple Start Up in his field of expertise. He is also the president Sfax Health Tech Cluster.

Aïda Kammoun

Professor (Finance)

ISAAS, University of Sfax

Titular of a Doctorate and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Management Sciences specializing in Finance from the Higher Institute of Management of Tunis and of a Bachelor's degree from the Institute of Higher Commercial Studies of Carthage. With 22 years of experience in higher education, she has been in charge of several Bachelor's courses (Financial Management, Financial Decisions, Portfolio Management, Financial Theory, Microstructure of Financial Markets ...) and research master's courses (Risk Management, Advanced Financial Mathematics, Options Theory, Product Futures and Valuation, Entrepreneurial Finance, Financing and Entrepreneurial Activities). As a member of the Doctoral School of the University of Sfax, she has supervised and is currently supervising several doctoral theses mainly on the following research topics: Financial education of entrepreneurs, choice of financing method and success of start-ups, Banking digitalization, Financial inclusion, Crypto currency, Portfolio risks, Behavioral finance, Corporate social responsibility. As a coach, she has participated in several competitions organized in partnership between the University of Sfax and the professional community, for the selection of the best business start-up projects, Member of the YABDA team of the University of Sfax.

Salma Borchani Sellami

Associate Professor

Holdes a Doctorate in Management Sciences specializing in Strategic Management from the University of Paris 12, a Diploma of Advanced Studies and a master's degree from the Faculty of Economic Sciences of Management of Sfax in Management and Internationalization of Economies and in Finance. With 20 years of experience, she has been in charge of several Bachelor's courses (management principles, human resources management, internal communication, entrepreneurship, etc.) and in the preparatory cycle of accounting review and professional masters courses (policy and strategy of business, research seminars, qualitative data processing technique using Nvivo software, advice and assistance for business generation, ethics and corporate social responsibility). She has supervised and is currently supervising several research works and end of studies projects, in particular on skills management, competitive dynamics and strategic choices of companies, spin-off, the entrepreneurial ecosystem and the process of support in the Sfax region, entrepreneurial orientation for companies, etc.). She has directed business plans. She co-founded associations including the Association for the Promotion of Scientific and Technological Research "PRESTECH", and the Association Junior Entreprise (ESCS-ENIS). She has directed the Career and Skills Certification Center at ESCS. She is part of the hard core of entrepreneurship of the University of Sfax. Member of the YABDA team of the University of Sfax.

Sameh Charfeddine

Maitre-Assistante

IHEC , University of Sfax

Doctor in Management Sciences (Finance). Assistant Professor at the Institute of Higher Commercial Studies of Sfax (IHEC de Sfax) with 23 years of experience in higher education. Has been responsible for various courses in bachelors (Financial Mathematics, Financial Diagnosis, Cash Management, Portfolio Management ...), in professional and research masters (Financial Information, In-depth Financial Analysis, Islamic Finance, Investment Funds …). Has participated in the assembly and implementation of a project financed by the fund (Souk Attanmia 1) allocated by the African Development Bank (AFDB) and has supported the bearer of this project in all of its realization stages. Has carried out research in performance of Tunisian banks and of developing countries, in parametric and non-parametric frontier methods and in Islamic finance. Member of the YABDA team of the University of Sfax.

Naïma JEMNI

A universities teacher-technologist

Higher Institute of Technological Studies of Sfax-Directorate General of Technological Studies

From the University of Sfax, she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Internationalization of Economies (Faculty of Economics and Management of Sfax, 2005), a Master Specialized in New Information Technologies & Electronic Trade (National Engineering School of Sfax, 2003) and a Master's degree in Management Sciences (FEM of Sfax, 1997). She is a member of the hard core struture of teachers of Entrepreneurial Culture at the University of Sfax, and has accumulated experience in conducting entrepreneurship training for more than 10 years. She has appeared on the regional jury of the "National Competition for Best Business Plans", the jury of the "Competition of the Best Innovative Projects of Closure of Studies ", organized by the University of Sfax and the jury of Hackathon "Hack_4 Transparency, organised by the Court of Auditors. She has mentored projects teams in many challenge events such as "Haccking Health”, "Innovation Camp", "Start-Up IHEC", "Lean Step-Up" and "24 COPS". She has participated in International projects such as "Water–Sustainable Use of a Cultural Asset in the Arabic Area 2012", supported by DAAD within the German/Islamic Dialogue between Universities 2012 program, and "Yabda", supported by the EU within the Erasmus+ program.
